Nepal’s Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Gauri Kumari Yadav, has urged the United States to ensure access to the American market for Nepali products.

During a courtesy meeting with the Acting US Ambassador to Nepal, Scott Aubrum, at the Ministry on Thursday, Minister Yadav requested the US to reinstate the ‘Nepal Trade Preferences Program’, which expired in December 2025.

Minister Yadav also emphasized the need to activate the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) between Nepal and the US through regular dialogue to promote bilateral trade and investment.

She mentioned that Nepal has made policy and legal reforms to create a favorable investment climate and is eager to attract more American investment.

Minister Yadav specifically requested US investment in hydropower and renewable energy, tourism infrastructure, agricultural processing, manufacturing industries, and the digital economy.

Acting US Ambassador Aubrum expressed the US’s positive stance on continuing trade preferences and promoting investment in Nepal.
