Nepal’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment has announced that 1,250 metric tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser will arrive in the country on Monday.
The fertiliser, purchased through a global tender, had arrived at Kolkata port in India on July 10. Out of the total 30,000 metric tonnes of DAP fertiliser, 1,250 metric tonnes will start being transported to Nepal from Ashar 1, 2083.
The remaining fertiliser is still being packaged at Kolkata port and will be transported to Nepal in phases, according to the ministry.
The management of fertiliser supply is being handled by the Agriculture Inputs Company. The government has been working to ensure a regular supply of fertiliser to farmers through various means, including procurement and transportation.
