Nepal’s Education and Sports Minister Sashmit Pokharel has expressed confidence that making Saturday and Sunday permanent holidays will yield positive results in the long run.
Speaking to journalists at the Ministry on Friday, Minister Pokharel said, ‘We know that declaring Saturday and Sunday as holidays is an unpopular decision at present, but it will address mental health issues and increase productivity in the long term.’
He also emphasized the need for parents to have two days off. ‘Parents are working and cannot take care of their children. They also need two days off. The government has two days off, and we trust that the private sector will also provide two days off.’
Minister Pokharel believes that this move will have a positive impact on the overall society.
