Nepal has been grouped with Japan and Indonesia in the women’s volleyball event at the Asian Games 2026, scheduled to take place in Japan.
The Nepali women’s volleyball team, currently ranked 68th in the world, has qualified for the tournament based on its world ranking and will be competing in the Asian Games for the second consecutive time.
The team is currently undergoing special training under the ‘Mission 2026’ program and aims to deliver a competitive performance at the international level.
According to the draw held on Thursday, Nepal has been placed in Group ‘A’ alongside Asian powerhouse Japan and Indonesia.
Japan, ranked sixth in the world, is considered one of the strongest teams in Asia, while Indonesia is a competitive team in Southeast Asia, ranked 60th in the world.
The Asian Games 2026 will feature the top 16 teams in Asia, and Nepal’s participation is expected to be a significant step forward for the sport in the country.
