Nepal Police in Jhapa have reported a significant success in controlling smuggling and illegal excavation, seizing contraband worth over 50 million rupees in the last fiscal year.
According to the annual progress report released by the District Police Office, Jhapa, the seized goods include spare parts for vehicles worth 14.9 million rupees, textiles worth 6.5 million rupees, groceries worth 5.2 million rupees, and tobacco products worth 8.9 million rupees.
In addition, the police seized 1.2 million rupees worth of tobacco products, 2.1 million rupees worth of electrical parts, and 3.2 million rupees worth of cosmetics, among other items.
The seized goods were handed over to the customs office, and 29 vehicles and seven individuals involved in smuggling were taken into custody for legal action.
The District Police Office, Jhapa, reported that the seizures were made at various checkpoints in the district during the fiscal year 2082/83.
