The Nepal Health Ministry has ordered the Seti Provincial Hospital to ensure proper care and management for Dr Govinda KC, who has been on his 24th hunger strike since Thursday.
Health Minister Nisha Mehata has taken interest in Dr KC’s deteriorating health condition and has instructed the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Hemraj Pandey, to ensure effective management of his treatment and necessary coordination.
The ministry’s chief advisor, Dr Manohar Pradhan, has also coordinated with the hospital administration to gather information on Dr KC’s health condition, treatment process, and necessary arrangements.
Considering Dr KC’s current health condition, doctors have suggested that it would not be suitable for him to stay in the hospital for an extended period. Preparations have been made to arrange alternative treatment if necessary.
Dr KC was transferred to the ICU of Seti Provincial Hospital on Saturday from the Krishna Mandir Dharmashala in Dhangadhi Up-Metropolitan City-1.
In the meantime, a negotiation team comprising representatives from the Health Ministry and the Education, Science, and Sports Ministry is preparing to visit Dhangadhi today to discuss Dr KC’s demands.
