The Nepal government has expressed its willingness to increase the allowances of members of parliament’s (MPs) secretaries, including their field visit allowances.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle stated that the government is open to revising the allowances and benefits of MPs’ secretaries, including their field visit allowances, in a meeting of the parliamentary Finance Committee on Friday.

Minister Wagle mentioned that the government is not opposed to adjusting the allowances and benefits of MPs’ secretaries, including their field visit allowances, in accordance with the necessary laws and procedures.

He also stated that the government is willing to engage in healthy discussions on the proposed amendments to the Nepal Rastra Bank Act.

Furthermore, Minister Wagle clarified that the government is not rigid on the structure and appointment of officials in the Nepal Rastra Bank.

The number of members in the bank’s board of directors and the appointment of deputy governors are among the topics that can be discussed, he added.
