Nepal Government Makes ID Cards and Uniforms Mandatory for Civil Servants

The Government of Nepal has made it mandatory for all civil servants to wear uniforms and display their identification cards during office hours.

The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, and General Administration issued a circular on Thursday, directing all ministries, commissions, secretariats, offices of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, and local governments to implement this provision.

According to the ministry, the decision was made based on a letter from the National Security Council dated Ashar 26, 2083, and a decision was taken on Ashar 32, 2083, to make the uniforms and ID cards mandatory.

The circular has requested all public agencies to ensure that their employees comply with the dress code and display their ID cards.
