Nepal Government and Metered Tariff Victims Engage in Final Talks

Negotiations between the Nepal government and the Metered Tariff Victims’ group have entered their final stage. The talks, which began earlier today, are expected to result in a written agreement.

The government team, led by Prime Minister’s Secretary Pushkar Sapkota, includes Home Ministry’s Joint Secretary Kaliprasad Parajuli and Land Management Department’s Director-General Yogendra Prasad Dulal.

The Metered Tariff Victims’ group is represented by a team led by Nawalparasi (Susta East) resident Avadhesh Kushwaha. Other members of the team include Manoj Paswan from Siraha, Rijan Ranamagar from Gorkha, Laxmi Ghimire from Bhojpur, Kiran Pariyar from Bardghat West, and Nirgaraj Jaisi from Kailali.

Yesterday, intense discussions took place between the government team and the victims’ group at the Prime Minister’s Office. Today’s talks are building on the progress made during those discussions, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

A written agreement is expected to be signed later today, marking a significant development in the long-standing issue of metered tariff victims in Nepal.
