Nepal’s Education Secretary, Chudamani Paudel, has initiated talks with Dr. Govinda KC, who has been on a hunger strike for three days.
Secretary Paudel met Dr. KC at the Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi on Saturday, where he is undergoing treatment. Paudel said that he had an informal conversation with Dr. KC and his supporters to understand their concerns and demands.
According to Paudel, a formal dialogue will be held on Sunday with Dr. KC to address his demands. Paudel stated that the government is committed to finding a respectful and consensual solution to the issues raised by Dr. KC through dialogue and negotiation.
Dr. KC has been on a hunger strike since Ashar 29, 2083, with a five-point demand. His health began to deteriorate, and he was shifted from the Krishna Mandir Dharmashala in Dhangadhi to the Seti Provincial Hospital for treatment.
The Chief District Officer of Kailali, Hiralal Regmi, also met with Dr. KC on Saturday, along with Secretary Paudel, to discuss his health and demands.
