Nepal Completes Printing of 2.7 Million Smart Licenses

Nepal’s Ministry of Information and Communications has announced that the printing of 2.7 million smart licenses has been completed.

The ministry stated that the printing work was carried out in two phases, with the first phase starting on 12 Kartik 2082 and the second phase beginning on 4 Baisakh 2083. The second phase was completed on 32 Ashar 2083.

End of Backlog

The ministry also announced that the backlog of license printing has been fully cleared. According to the ministry, the Security Printing Center has been printing around 3,000 to 5,000 smart licenses daily, based on the information received from the Department of Transport Management.

The ministry stated that this new system has made the distribution of new licenses faster and more organized.

Future Plans

The ministry is also planning to sign agreements with the seven provincial governments and the Ministry of Transport to print smart licenses. The Security Printing Center is also preparing to produce other security printing materials, including citizenship certificates, national identity cards, and revenue stickers.

Once these materials are produced domestically, it is expected to save millions of rupees that would have been spent on importing them. It will also contribute to capital mobilization, job creation, and the provision of quality public services within the country.
