Nepal Communist Party Chief Returns Home After Five-Day Visit to Sri Lanka

Nepal Communist Party Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ returned home on Sunday after completing a five-day political visit to Sri Lanka.

During his visit, Prachanda attended the ‘Hands of Asia’ international conference organized by the International People’s Assembly, where he delivered the keynote address at both the opening and closing sessions.

In his address, Prachanda spoke about the changes in the global balance of power, the challenges of imperialism and neoliberalism, the experiences of the South Asian people’s movement, and his vision for socialism in the 21st century.

Prachanda also met with the General Secretary and Politburo members of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, where they discussed the experiences of the communist movements in Nepal and Sri Lanka, democratic practices, economic transformation, and cooperation among progressive forces internationally.

Additionally, Prachanda met with the General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna party, Tilvin Silva, and other party leaders, where they discussed the communist movements in both countries, the current political situation, South Asian left-wing cooperation, good governance, economic development, and people-friendly policies.

The visit is seen as an important step in strengthening the political relationship between Nepal and Sri Lanka’s progressive forces.
