Nepal Boosts Border Security with Drones and CCTV

Nepal’s Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has stated that the government is prioritizing the development of infrastructure at border outposts (BOPs) to boost the morale of security personnel stationed along the country’s borders.

Addressing a meeting of the National Assembly’s Federalism Empowerment and National Concerns Committee, Gurung noted that many border outposts lack proper facilities, forcing security personnel to work in challenging conditions.

Gurung emphasized that the government has allocated a significant budget for the development of infrastructure at BOPs, which will help improve the working conditions of security personnel.

Enhanced Border Security Measures

The government is also taking steps to enhance border security, including the use of drones for surveillance and the installation of CCTV systems with facial recognition technology at border checkpoints.

Gurung pointed out that the lack of proper infrastructure at border outposts has hindered the effectiveness of security operations, with many personnel forced to work in makeshift shelters and endure harsh conditions.

The minister expressed confidence that the development of infrastructure at BOPs will help improve the morale of security personnel, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively.

Gurung also highlighted the need to address the issue of open borders, which has contributed to the rise in cross-border crimes.

The government has allocated a budget for the use of drones to monitor border areas and has initiated the installation of CCTV systems with facial recognition technology at border checkpoints.
