Nagarjun Literary Award Distributed on Dahal’s 73rd Birth Anniversary

A literary award and honor ceremony was held on the 73rd birth anniversary of writer Dahal Yagyanidhi, organized by the Nagarjun Literary Foundation.

The ‘Nagarjun Literary Honor Award-2083’ was awarded to senior writers Sudha Tripathi, Ratnindhi Regmi ‘Shukracharya’, Vinod Manjan, Hariprasad Silwal, Ramesh Shubhechha, and Pavitra Sunar ‘Sanu’. Additionally, the ‘Nagarjun Award-2083’ worth 11,000 rupees was awarded to journalist and former president of the foundation Prakash Silwal.

Senior writer and former vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University Professor Tripathi presented the awards. A selection committee was formed under the coordination of writer Vinod Manjan, including former president Rojan Rai and former vice-president Gauri Dahal, to choose the award winners.

During the ceremony, Hariprasad Silwal spoke about Dahal’s essay writing, Vinod Manjan discussed the award selection process, Ramesh Shubhechha talked about Dahal’s overall personality, and Pavitra Sunar ‘Sanu’ highlighted Dahal’s contribution to the upliftment of marginalized communities.

Poet ‘Shukracharya’ presented a dozen poems, including some about Dahal. Poet Purna Viram’s poetry recitation competition was also held, and Pramod Bhandari was awarded the prize.

Other participants in the ceremony included Lakshman Adhikari, Ramdev Pandey, Madhav Atal, Ganga Khadivada, Anuradha Thapa, Dinesh Kharel, and Krishna Prasad Jastaghar.

Dahal’s Legacy

Dahal’s wife Sudha Dahal said that the publication, broadcasting, and award distribution tradition will continue to make Dahal’s personality and contributions immortal.

The president of the foundation, Dil Paudel, stated that Dahal’s contribution to the democratic literary movement and cultural transformation is unforgettable.

Dahal was born on 8 Shrawan 2010 in Dharapani, Khotang, and passed away on 25 Shrawan 2079.

As a former president of the foundation and a leader of the joint platform of democratic creators, Dahal’s contributions to education, literature, culture, communication, and social service are unforgettable.
