Lumbini Lions have retained Namibian fast bowler Ruben Trumpelmann as their first foreign player for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL) season.
Trumpelmann, 28, was the Player of the Tournament in the second edition of the NPL, where Lumbini Lions won the title. He took 15 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of 6.72 and an average of 14.93, and also scored 41 runs in seven innings, including 29 not out against Karnali Yaks.
Trumpelmann has also played in the UAE’s IL T20 League and Canada’s Global T20 League. He is currently representing Namibia in the Cricket World Cup League 2 in the Netherlands.
Lumbini Lions’ Retention List
Lumbini Lions have retained several key players, including captain Rohit Paudel, Sandeep Jora, Sher Malla, Dilip Nath, Tilak Raj Bhandari, Dinesh Adhikari, and Abhishek Gautam. They have also signed Asif Sheikh, Kishor Mahato, Aakash Tripathi, Durgesh Gupta, Arniko Yadav, and Ajay Chauhan.
Lumbini Lions’ president Ishwar Jisi said, ‘We have retained Ruben Trumpelmann to start our title defense campaign. He is an experienced player who has played in associate cricket and has easily adapted to the Lumbini Lions team.’
