Landslide in Mugu’s Puluma Claims Life of 3-Year-Old Boy

A three-year-old boy has lost his life in a landslide that hit Puluma Bazaar in Mugu’s Mugu Karmarong rural municipality-5.

According to the police, the landslide occurred at the rented hotel of Jagannath Baduwal, 32, and his wife Srijana Baduwal, 27, from Chainanath Rara municipality-13, Tirpaka, at the house of local resident Pema Lama.

The landslide, which brought rocks and debris, hit the house where Jagannath, Srijana, and their three-year-old son Ramesh were asleep. Ramesh lost his life in the incident, while his parents sustained minor injuries.

Jagannath and Srijana are receiving treatment at the Puluma health post. The police and local residents had rescued Ramesh and taken him to the health post, but he was declared dead by the doctor.

The landslide, which came from about 200 meters above, has completely damaged the house. Eight other houses in the surrounding area are also at risk, and the local residents have been relocated to a safer location, according to police.

A team of seven people led by Police Inspector Padam Bahadur Khatri from the district police office, and a team of six people from the Chhayan police post, have been deployed to the site for rescue operations. The police and local residents are currently engaged in rescue efforts.
