A landslide in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh has killed 13 people. The incident occurred in the border area of Pangi and Lahaul-Spiti districts, in the Kadu Nala region.
The landslide hit a Tata Sumo vehicle on the Udaypur-Killad road near Kadu Nala on Friday. Thirteen people died on the spot, according to Shivani Mehla, a police official in Lahaul-Spiti.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his condolences on Instagram. He wrote, ‘I am deeply saddened to hear that 13 people died on the spot when a Tata Sumo vehicle was hit by a landslide, and two people were injured.’
‘The pain of losing loved ones cannot be expressed in words,’ he added. ‘My deepest condolences are with the bereaved families. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this unbearable pain.’
Chief Minister Sukhu instructed officials in Lahaul and Spiti to make proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured as soon as he received information about the incident.
