A landslide has blocked the Prithvi Highway in Chitwan, disrupting traffic in the area.
The landslide occurred at around 2:20 am in the Panidhara and Chumkhola areas of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-2, Fisling.
According to Ramshwar Paudel, Chief of the District Police Office in Chitwan, efforts are being made to clear the debris and restore traffic. As of 9:00 am, work was underway to remove the landslide and resume traffic.
The Narayangadh-Muglin road section and the Prithvi Highway in Chitwan were closed on Sunday night due to the risk of landslides and floods caused by heavy rainfall.
Local authorities had imposed a ban on vehicular movement from 10:00 pm on Sunday, citing the risk of landslides. However, vehicles heading towards Pokhara via the Narayangadh-Muglin road have resumed operations.
