Kaski Administration Urges for Risk Study and Control of Seti River

The Kaski District Administration has directed the concerned authorities to conduct a risk study and control measures for the Seti River, which has been affected by landslides and boulders.

Following the news of the Seti River’s flow being disrupted due to landslides and boulders, a team led by Chief District Officer Kumansingh Gurung conducted an on-site inspection of the area.

According to Assistant CDO Chitrangat Baral, although no major risks were found during the inspection, the responsibility for technical study and control has been assigned.

Risk Study and Control Measures

The District Administration has written separate letters to the Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project, and the Annapurna Rural Municipality to implement the decisions of the District Security Committee meeting held on Ashar 3.

In the letter, the administration has directed the Pokhara Metropolitan City and the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project to conduct a technical study on the Seti River, which has been affected by landslides and boulders.

The letter also instructs the two agencies to prepare a detailed study report, including the immediate impact on the riverbank, identification of potential risk areas, long-term effects, risk reduction measures, and a plan of action for the future.

Additionally, the administration has directed the Irrigation Project and the Pokhara Metropolitan City to work in coordination to reduce risks, monitor the implementation of decisions, and implement necessary preventive measures.

Relief and Reconstruction Efforts

In another letter, the administration has requested the Annapurna Rural Municipality to provide detailed information on the damage caused by floods and landslides, along with the estimated technical cost for relief and reconstruction efforts.

The administration has also directed the rural municipality to obtain approval from the District Disaster Management Committee and forward the necessary documents.

Assistant CDO Baral informed that the administration has directed all agencies to expedite relief, restoration, and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas and to implement risk reduction measures effectively through coordination among all agencies.
