The expansion of the Kakadbhitta-Laukahi road has been affected due to the non-relocation of electric poles. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided loan assistance for the construction of this road.
The project has been delayed due to the non-relocation of electric poles, despite the contractor having started work 29 months ago. The physical progress of the project is currently at 43 percent, with only 18 kilometers of the road being blacktopped so far.
The contractor, CRFG and Tundi JV, has been facing difficulties in constructing the road due to the presence of electric poles in the market area. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has been slow to relocate the poles, despite the contractor having paid the necessary fees.
The project chief, Jagat Prajapati, has expressed concern over the delay, stating that the NEA had agreed to relocate the poles before the construction started, but has yet to complete the work. He added that the delay has increased the risk of accidents and has affected the overall progress of the project.
The NEA has committed to completing the relocation of the poles by the end of Ashar, but the project authorities are skeptical about the authority’s ability to meet the deadline.
