Iranian Citizens Face Uncertainty and Concern Amid Escalating US Attacks

As the conflict between the US and Iran intensifies, Iranian citizens are facing growing uncertainty and concern about their future.

According to various Iranian citizens who spoke to Reuters via encrypted messaging apps, the war has led to a significant increase in prices, making daily life even more challenging.

Somayeh, a 40-year-old photographer from Tehran, said that the prices of daily essentials have almost doubled since the war began.

"The biggest problem is the economy," she said. "Every day, life becomes more difficult. One day there is war, the next day there is talk of peace. Nobody knows what will happen next."

Amir, a 30-year-old software engineer from Sanandaj, western Iran, said that the war has severely affected his job, as the government frequently cuts off internet services.

"I was just starting to get back on my feet after finding a new job, but now I’m worried about the future," he said.

Nazanin, a 34-year-old psychologist from Sanandaj, had planned to pursue higher education abroad but was unable to do so due to the devaluation of the Iranian currency.

"I have decided not to leave the country now, as I don’t want to be away from my family during these difficult times," she said.

Somayeh also considered leaving Iran but said that the economic situation and the lack of opportunities made it impossible.

"I have a house, a family, and a life here. Even if I get the opportunity to leave, I won’t," she said.

A resident of Mahabad, Hiwa, warned that the escalating prices and economic hardship could lead to social unrest and street protests.

"The situation is getting worse every day, and people are getting desperate," he said.
