Gulmi’s Dharerekhola Bridge Now Operational

A newly constructed bridge over the Dharerekhola river in Gulmi district has come into operation, ending the risk of accidents during the monsoon season.

The bridge, which spans 40 meters, was built as part of the Rudravani-Wami Takshar road project. Local residents and travelers no longer have to risk their lives crossing the river, especially during the monsoon season when the water level rises.

The Dharerekhola river is considered a sensitive area due to its tendency to flood during the monsoon season. In the past, vehicles had to cross the river, which often resulted in accidents and disruptions to traffic.

Benefits to Local Residents

The new bridge has brought relief to local residents, traders, students, and commuters who travel along this road. The bridge is expected to reduce the risk of accidents and make travel safer and more convenient throughout the year.

The Rudravani-Wami Takshar road is an important route that connects various local bodies in Gulmi district. The road is used for transporting local products to the market, accessing health services, and facilitating daily travel.

Local businessman and social worker Gyanhari Sapkota expressed his happiness over the completion of the bridge and urged the authorities to prioritize the upgradation of the road and other infrastructure development works.

Other Bridge Construction Projects

Construction work is underway on three other bridges along the Rudravani-Wami Takshar road. The bridges are being built at Nadewa Khola, Bharse Khola, and Giddi Khola.

The construction of these bridges is expected to improve the overall condition of the road and reduce the risk of accidents. The project is being implemented by the Road Division Office in Palpa, with a total budget of Rs 22.31 million.

The Rudravani-Wami Takshar road is an old road that connects Gulmi district to neighboring Baglung district. The road is used by vehicles traveling between the two districts, and the construction of the bridges is expected to improve the overall condition of the road.
