The top five nominees for the Garima 9th National Lok Dohori Award 2083 have been announced. The award, organized by the National Folk and Dohori Song Academy, will be held on 6 Bhadra in Kathmandu.
The nominees were selected by a committee led by former central president Durga Rayamajhi, with the help of 24 different categories, including lyrics, music, and editing. The nominees were chosen from a pool of applicants from all over the country.
In the Best Lok Dohori Singer category, the top five nominees are Khem Century (Tallo Bato), Sagar Ale (UK Basne Dai), Prakash Dutraj (Chhain Ra Maya), Arjun Sapkota (Jhaliko), and Kushal Belbase (Kancho Supari).
In the Best Lok Dohori Singer (Female) category, the top five nominees are Shantishree Pariyar (Juneli Rati Rati Ma), Shantaranee Pariyar (Syauli Bazaar Ma), Deepika Byambo Magar (Kasmire Pachheuri), Kalika Roka (Deurali Lai Phoolpati Dhaja), and Nisha Gurung (UK London Ko).
The award will be given based on the votes of the audience and the decision of the jury. The nominees in other categories include Best Lok Dohori Lyricist, Best Lok Dohori Musician, Best Lok Dohori Song, and Best Lok Dohori Dance.
The award aims to promote and recognize the talent of lok dohori artists in Nepal.
