Former Minister and RPP Leader Fattesingh Tharu Passes Away

Former Minister and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Fattesingh Tharu has passed away at the age of 87 in Nepalgunj.

Tharu, who was undergoing treatment at Western Hospital due to heart problems, died of a heart attack on Thursday, Ashar 32, 2083, according to RPP Vice-Chairman Rishiraj Devkota.

The funeral rites of the late leader will be performed on Friday at Sindhaniya Ghat on the banks of the Rapti River.

Tharu, born in 1996 BS in Thapu village (now Bajnath Municipality) in Banke, had a long and influential political career.

According to RPP leader Tejvikram Shah, Tharu was elected as a member of the Rastriya Panchayat in 2038 and 2043 BS. After the establishment of the multi-party system, he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Banke constituency No. 3 in 2051 BS.

During his political career, Tharu held various ministerial portfolios, including education, communication, agriculture, defense, industry, and commerce, and had the opportunity to serve as a minister seven times.

Tharu started his political career in 2023 BS as the head of Hasnapur Village Panchayat in Banke and later became the chairman of Banke District Panchayat three times.

The late leader is survived by two wives and four children.
