Former CM Shakya Undergoes Emergency Angioplasty

Former Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Astalaxmi Shakya, underwent an emergency angioplasty due to heart-related issues.

Shakya, also a former vice-president of the CPN (UML), underwent the surgery at Patan Academy of Health Sciences this morning.

According to Dr. Ashok Adhikari, head of the cardiology department at the hospital, Shakya was brought to the hospital this morning after complaining of chest pain. Tests revealed that she had suffered an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), prompting the need for an angioplasty.

The surgery was performed by a team led by Dr. Adhikari, Dr. Prabindra Maharjan, and Dr. Anand Jisi.

Shakya is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
