Flash Flood Risk in Parts of Nepal, Public Urged to be Cautious

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned of a risk of flash floods in various parts of the country, urging the public to exercise caution.

The department has identified several areas where small rivers and streams may cause flooding, including Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Ilam, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Dhading, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Kaski, Tanahun, Syangja, Parbat, Baglung, Gulmi, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Nawalparasi (East and West), Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Doti, Dadeldhura, Kailali, and Kanchanpur.

According to the department, the water levels of major rivers such as the Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, and Mahakali, as well as their tributaries, are below the danger mark. However, small rivers such as the Kankai, Kamala, Babai, East Rapti, and West Rapti may cause flooding.

The public is advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to avoid any potential risks.
