The FIFA World Cup 2026 final between Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, and Spain, led by Lamine Yamal, is set to become one of the most expensive sporting events in the United States.
Tickets for the final at the New York-New Jersey Stadium in New Jersey have seen a significant price surge in recent times. The cheapest ticket on FIFA’s resale platform has reached $6,411, while some seats have been priced as high as $35,000. Tickets with special hospitality services have been priced at nearly $60,000.
One seller listed a ticket for $22,999,998 (approximately NPR 35.5 million), but there is no evidence that it has been sold at this price. According to ticket resale platform SeatGeek, the average ticket price for the final has exceeded $11,000, surpassing the average price of the 2024 Super Bowl.
FIFA’s introduction of the ‘dynamic pricing’ system for the first time in this World Cup has led to a surge in ticket prices based on demand. The initial ticket price for the group stage was set at $575.
Despite criticism that the high ticket prices have alienated ordinary fans from the World Cup, FIFA claims that most matches have seen packed stadiums.
