Facebook services have been restored after nearly 1.5 hours of outage. The social media platform was unavailable in Nepal from around 1:15 pm on Sunday.
Although some users reported that they could access Facebook through the app, others were unable to log in through the desktop version. According to Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages, thousands of users reported issues with the platform.
The outage was reported not only in Nepal but also in other parts of the world. Downdetector reported that 63% of the issues were related to the website, while 20% were related to mobile devices and 10% to the app.
Many users reported that they could access Facebook on their mobile devices but were unable to log in through the desktop version. Facebook has not yet provided any official information on what caused the outage.
This is not the first time that Facebook has experienced an outage. In 2021, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp were unavailable for nearly 6 hours due to a configuration change in the company’s network infrastructure.
