The Environment Premier League (EPL) Butwal 2026, a unique youth-led environmental competition, has kicked off in Butwal.
The event, organized by the Mainadevi Foundation, was formally inaugurated by Khilraj Pandey, the chief of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City.
Following the inauguration, students from 15 educational institutions in Butwal, including Dip Boarding, New Horizon, Manimukund, Nayagaun, Kalika, Kanti, Navin, Scholars Home, Everest College, Tribhuvan, Naharpur, Oxford, and Eden, conducted a rally and symbolic cleaning campaign in the sub-metropolitan city area.
In his address, Mayor Pandey expressed his administration’s commitment to waste management and praised the leadership taken by colleges and youths to address the challenge.
Saroj Ghimire, the campaign coordinator of the foundation, said the initiative is not just a cleaning program but a long-term platform to develop environmental conservation, creative thinking, and personal responsibility among youths.
The historic competition will run for 46 days, with 15 colleges competing in weekly activities.
The winners will receive cash prizes, with the first-place winner receiving Rs 100,000, the second-place winner receiving Rs 50,000, and the third-place winner receiving Rs 25,000.
