Educational consultancy businesses have taken to the streets to protest against the new regulations introduced by the government.
The protest, led by the Joint Struggle Committee of Educational Consultancy Businesses, began on Friday, Ashar 1, 2083, in Putalisadak Chowk, Kathmandu.
The protesters are demanding that the government either scrap or amend the new regulations, which they claim are not business-friendly and are impractical.
The new regulations, which were introduced by the government, require educational consultancies to renew their permits every year and classify educational fairs.
The Joint Struggle Committee has expressed disagreement with certain provisions of the new regulations and has demanded immediate amendments.
The committee has asked the government to amend provisions related to the registration and permit renewal of institutions, the classification and criteria of educational fairs, the benefits to be received from foreign educational institutions, tax and income-expenditure statements, compensation arrangements, and institutional classification.
The protesters have warned that if their demands are not met, they will hand over the keys to their offices to the District Administration Office and launch an indefinite protest.
The protest is aimed at pressuring the government to address the concerns of the educational consultancy businesses.
