Heavy rainfall has led to a high risk of flooding, landslides, and road obstructions in Dhading, prompting the district administration to suspend public transport from Sunday night to Monday morning.
The District Administration Office in Dhading issued an urgent notice on Sunday evening, stating that all public and private vehicles, except for emergency services, would be prohibited from operating from 10 pm on Sunday to 5 am on Monday.
Chief District Officer Laxmi Pandey Gautam’s notice exempted ambulances, fire trucks, and security vehicles from the ban, allowing them to operate uninterrupted.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology had forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in various parts of the country on Sunday, prompting the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority in Kathmandu to warn of high risks in districts including Chitwan, Gorkha, Dhading, and Nuwakot.
Citing the potential risks, the administration suspended all public and private transport services in the district to ensure the safety of the general public.
