Citizens have questioned Parsuram Gurung, a member of parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), over some of his past controversial statements.

In a viral video on social media, a young man is seen saying to Gurung, ‘You are an honourable person who has been caught red-handed. You have been caught in the act.’

Gurung is seen smiling in response. Another young man asks him, ‘You have been caught while trying to bribe someone. What do you have to say to us about bribery?’ Gurung replies, ‘It’s for bribery, brother.’

Gurung, who was elected from Udayapur, had gone viral on social media on Ashar 3, 2083, for saying that he could transfer mayors who did not work, just like permanent employees or officials who did not work could be transferred from one place to another to correct them.

Later, in a clarification, he said that the meaning of his statement had been distorted. Gurung, who has been involved in business and politics, has a background in the expansion of electric vehicles and the automotive sector.

He has a master’s degree and is considered a successful person who has made a name for himself in private sector leadership, along with education and social awareness. However, since entering politics, he has been in the spotlight for various reasons, including his statements.

Gurung, who has experience working for good governance in Province 1 through the Good Governance Campaign, has also worked as a journalist for some time.
