A three-year-old boy has died in a landslide in the Mugu district of Nepal. The incident occurred in the Pulubazaar area of Karmarong village in the district.
According to District Police Chief, Naib Sub Inspector Ravi Raj Thapaliya, the boy, Ramesh Baduwal, was buried under debris along with his parents, Jaganath and Sirjana Baduwal, when their house was hit by a landslide on Saturday morning.
Ramesh was rescued by a police team led by Naib Inspector Nir Bikram Chand and local residents, but he died while undergoing treatment at a nearby health post. His parents sustained minor injuries.
Landslide Damage and Relief Efforts
The landslide completely destroyed the Baduwal family’s house, and eight other houses in the area are at risk of being affected. The police have relocated the families of these houses to safer locations, and eight people have been taken to the Pulubazaar health post.
A team of five police personnel led by Inspector Padam Bahadur Khatri has been deployed from Mugu to assist in the rescue and investigation efforts. Another team of five personnel led by Havildar Gopal Sarki has also been sent from the Chhayanath police post.
