Border Expert Buddhinarayan Shrestha Receives National Hero Bhimsen Thapa Award

Border expert Buddhinarayan Shrestha has been awarded the ‘National Hero Bhimsen Thapa Award’ for this year.

President Ram Chandra Poudel presented the award to Shrestha on Friday, in recognition of his continuous notable contributions to the country’s border issues.

The award, which includes a cash prize of Rs 111,111 and a certificate of appreciation, was given to Shrestha on the 252nd birth anniversary of National Hero Bhimsen Thapa.

Speaking on the occasion, President Poudel highlighted the historic contribution of Bhimsen Thapa to the protection and promotion of Nepal’s nationalism.

He praised the initiative of awarding institutions or individuals who contribute to the nation in the memory of Bhimsen Thapa every year.

Dr Parthiveshwar Prasad Timilsina, Chairman of the National Hero Bhimsen Thapa Foundation, mentioned that the foundation has been awarding institutions or individuals who make special contributions to the country’s history or various fields on the occasion of Bhimsen Thapa’s birth anniversary every year.

He assured that this tradition would continue in the future.

Award winner Buddhinarayan Shrestha stated that Nepal has been able to maintain its sovereignty and independence as a free nation in the world due to the contributions of National Hero Bhimsen Thapa.

On the occasion, the third part of the collection of Bhimsen Thapa’s records compiled by Prof Sushil Bikram Thapa, Vice-Chairman of the Foundation, was presented to the President.

The Foundation has previously awarded Dr Bhes Bahadur Thapa, Mrigendra Samjhana Chikitsa Guthi, and the National Innovation Center, among others, with the Bhimsen Thapa Award.
