Border expert Buddhinarayan Shrestha has been awarded the ‘National Hero Bhimsen Thapa Award’ for his outstanding contributions to the country’s border issues.
President Ram Chandra Paudel presented the award to Shrestha on the occasion of the 252nd birth anniversary of National Hero Bhimsen Thapa, in recognition of his continuous efforts to protect and promote Nepal’s sovereignty.
Shrestha received a cash prize of Rs 1,11,001 and a certificate of appreciation. On the occasion, President Paudel highlighted the historical contributions of Bhimsen Thapa to the protection and promotion of Nepal’s nationality.
Awards and Recognition
The National Hero Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Foundation has been awarding individuals or institutions that make significant contributions to the country’s history, culture, and development every year on the birth anniversary of Bhimsen Thapa.
Chairman of the foundation, Parthiveshwar Prasad Timilsina, said that the foundation has been continuing this tradition to recognize and appreciate the efforts of individuals and institutions that work towards promoting Nepal’s sovereignty and development.
Shrestha, in his acceptance speech, credited Bhimsen Thapa’s contributions for Nepal’s independence and sovereignty, saying that the country has been recognized as a sovereign nation in the world due to his efforts.
A collection of documents related to Bhimsen Thapa, compiled by the foundation’s vice-chairman, Sushil Vikram Thapa, was also presented to the President on the occasion.
The Bhimsen Thapa Award has previously been awarded to several notable individuals and institutions, including Bhesh Bahadur Thapa, Mrigendra Samjhana Chikitsa Guthi, and the National Innovation Centre.
