Agriculture University to Enroll 10 Foreign Students

The Agriculture and Forestry University in Chitwan has announced that it will enroll foreign students for the first time. The university plans to enroll 10 students in four different programs in the first year.

According to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rishiram Kattel, three students will be enrolled in the Bachelor’s program in Agriculture, three in Forestry, three in Veterinary Medicine, and one in Fisheries. ‘The university is in the process of finalizing the admission procedures. We have decided to charge $10,000 as tuition fees for foreign students in Veterinary Medicine, while students in other programs will be charged $4,000,’ he said.

The university has clarified that foreign students will not be required to take the entrance examination. The eligibility criteria for foreign students will be included in the admission procedures, according to Vice-Chancellor Kattel.

Although other universities in the country have enrolled foreign students in the past, this is the first time the Agriculture University has done so. Ramhari Timilsina, the university’s Planning Director, explained that enrolling foreign students is one of the criteria for international ranking of universities. ‘We have been conducting short-term research programs and classes for foreign students, but this is the first time we will be enrolling students for degree programs,’ he said.

The university currently offers undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs in various fields.
