47 Foreign Women Deported from Nepal for Unethical Activities

Nepal has deported 47 foreign women for engaging in unethical activities, according to the police. The women were arrested in a special operation in tourist areas such as Thamel and Darbarmarg.

Speaking at a press conference, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhatterai said that 57 foreign women were arrested in the operation, and 47 of them were deported through the Department of Immigration. He added that investigations are ongoing against the remaining 10 women.

According to Bhatterai, the police launched the operation based on complaints from locals. ‘We arrested 57 women and deported 47 of them to their respective countries, including Uganda, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, Kenya, and Indonesia. Investigations are still ongoing against 10 others,’ he said.

Bhatterai also revealed that an organized network is involved in online betting, using cryptocurrencies to launder money and send it abroad. He said that the police are working to identify and investigate those involved in such activities.

The police have also launched a campaign against middlemen who disrupt public services, arresting 309 people and taking legal action against 61 of them, according to Bhatterai.

He added that the police are monitoring betting websites and investigating financial transactions to curb such activities.

Bhatterai noted that some foreign women had come to Nepal to engage in unethical activities, taking advantage of the country’s cheap cost of living and nightlife. ‘We have identified a problem in areas like Thamel and Darbarmarg, where foreign women are engaging in unethical activities,’ he said.
