166 People Receive Passports at Home in Dhankuta

Residents of Dhankuta have been benefiting from a new service that delivers passports to their homes. The ‘Passport at Home’ service has been implemented in all seven local levels of the district, including three municipalities and four rural municipalities.

The service aims to reduce the hassle of citizens having to visit the District Administration Office to collect their passports. According to Ram Kumar Shrestha, chief of the Dhankuta District Post Office, 166 people have so far received their passports at home through this service.

The service was launched on Jestha 1, following an agreement between the District Administration Office and the District Post Office on Vaisakh 14. Shrestha said that 166 passports have been delivered to citizens’ homes, while three people have registered their addresses with the District Administration Office.

Citizens have reported saving time and money with the new service. Previously, they had to visit the District Administration Office or the relevant office again to collect their passports after they were ready.

The District Post Office has arranged for the delivery of passports to citizens’ homes in coordination with the District Administration Office. According to Shrestha, the service is expected to be more effective, especially for citizens in rural areas.

Pushpalal Dhimal, administrative officer of the District Administration Office, said that the office plans to make the service more effective by targeting citizens in rural areas.

However, the office has not been using the postal service to deliver citizenship certificates, as citizens can collect them from the office after providing the necessary information. According to Suvas Katel, an employee of the District Administration Office, the office has not been using the postal service for this purpose.
