A former friend of Will Smith is attempting to draw the actor into a legal battle with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Bilaal Salaam, who is suing Jada for $3 million, has requested to depose Will as part of the lawsuit. However, Jada’s legal team has rejected the request, stating that Will is not a party to the litigation and has not received a subpoena.
Background of the Lawsuit
The lawsuit stems from Bilaal’s claims that Jada had people threaten him after he refused to help clean up the public relations mess following Will’s infamous Oscars slap. Bilaal also alleges that Jada was upset about his plans to write a memoir, which included details about the Smith family.
Jada has denied all allegations of wrongdoing and dismissed the claims as baseless. A judge has already dismissed some of Bilaal’s claims and awarded Jada over $30,000 in legal fees, but the remainder of the case is ongoing.
In a recent motion, Jada’s team has sought to compel Bilaal to turn over additional evidence, including medical records, which he claims are relevant to his allegations of emotional distress.
