Film artists in Western Nepal have come together to form a new association, aiming to promote and protect the rights of those working in the film industry.
The association, led by President Saraswati Khadka, was formed with the goal of addressing the problems faced by film artists in the region and working towards their solution.
A meeting of film artists, chaired by senior artist Rajkumar Joshi and attended by veteran artist Khadak Bahadur Mall, selected an 11-member executive committee, with Saraswati Khadka as its president.
Other members of the committee include Vice President Virendra Singh ‘Biru’, General Secretary Surendra Sangam, Secretary Vinod Bohara ‘Boktanee King’, and Treasurer Jayanti Pandey.
Members of the association expressed their happiness at the formation of the association, stating that it was a long time coming.
They expressed their hope that the association would play an effective role in promoting the development of the film industry and addressing the problems faced by film artists.
The meeting also formed an advisory committee, led by Rajkumar Joshi and including Khadak Bahadur Mall as a member.
Pushparaj Joshi, founder president of the Film Journalists Association of Nepal, Kailali, congratulated the film artists on their unification and expressed his hope that the association would work towards the development of the film industry and the rights of film artists.
Newly elected President Saraswati Khadka expressed her commitment to taking the association forward, incorporating all film artists from Western Nepal.
She stated that the association would work towards the development of the film industry and the solution of common problems faced by film artists, with the cooperation of all.
