A rising star in the boxing world, Hannah Rapp, has died at the age of 26 after an alleged road rage incident in Texas.
According to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, Rapp was killed on Saturday after a driver, identified as Charles Medina, passed her while she was riding her bicycle before stopping his vehicle and intentionally reversing into her.
Medina has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.
Rapp, a native of Indiana, was considered one of boxing’s up-and-coming prospects. She had turned professional in 2024 while working full-time as a fire and life safety inspector at Texas A&M University.
Tributes Paid to the Boxer
Tiara Brown, who fought Rapp in a WBC women’s featherweight title fight last month, paid tribute to her on Instagram, describing Rapp as ‘the best dance partner I have ever faced as a pro’.
Brown added that when Rapp asked for her autograph, ‘it filled my heart because we were getting ready for war’. She said it was ‘my honour to share the ring with her’.
Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the WBC, also mourned Rapp’s death, saying the boxing community is ‘heartbroken’ by the loss of ‘an exceptional boxer’ and ‘an invaluable member of our boxing family’.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
