Three Arrested as Investigation Continues Into Alleged Sexual Misconduct at Sukuna Secondary School

Three individuals, including teachers and a staff member from Sukuna Secondary School in Sundarharaicha Municipality-10, Morang, have been arrested in connection with an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving students.

According to the Area Police Office, Belbari, the investigation is ongoing and is being conducted intensively. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the charges or the identities of those arrested.

The case gained widespread public attention after current and former female students of Sukuna Secondary School, one of Koshi Province’s well-known community schools, shared allegations on social media accusing several teachers of sexual harassment, inappropriate communication, and psychological abuse.

Over the past several days, students have posted personal accounts, screenshots, and other materials on platforms including Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. They have alleged that certain teachers sent inappropriate messages, attempted to establish personal relationships with students, and engaged in behavior of a sexual nature. The authenticity of the social media posts and the allegations has not yet been independently verified.

Many of the students said they had remained silent for years due to fear, social pressure, and concerns about stigma, but have now chosen to speak publicly in hopes of seeking justice and encouraging other victims to come forward.

The allegations have also raised broader concerns about student safety, internal oversight, and complaint-handling mechanisms within the school. Some students have claimed that there was a lack of an effective system for reporting misconduct and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Repeated attempts to obtain an official response from the school’s principal, Hikmat Bahadur Basnet, were unsuccessful. The School Management Committee and the teachers named in the allegations had also not issued public statements at the time of publication.

Police have stated that the investigation remains active. Authorities are expected to determine whether sufficient evidence exists to proceed with formal charges as the inquiry continues.
