RSP Lawmaker Calls for Judicial Review After Vishnu Paudel’s Release

A lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called for a thorough review of the judiciary following the release of Vishnu Paudel, a leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), on a general date.

Yagyamani Neupane, an RSP member of parliament, made the comment on social media platform Facebook after the Special Court ordered Paudel’s release.

‘The time has come for a ruthless review of the judiciary,’ Neupane wrote, ‘the longer we delay, the more unbearable the situation may become.’

Neupane claimed that a series of recent events has shown that good governance and the end of corruption are impossible without judicial reform, and that ordinary citizens cannot be guaranteed justice.

‘All state agencies must accept change and only then can the country change,’ Neupane wrote, ‘this is not a conclusion I have reached in the heat of the moment, but rather through serious review.’
