Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane is set to visit China, according to high-ranking government sources. A four-member RSP delegation, including Lamichhane, is scheduled to visit Beijing in the second week of August.
Although the names of the high-ranking Chinese officials Lamichhane will meet have not been disclosed, it is confirmed that he will hold talks with Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other top party leaders.
The visit is part of a party-to-party relationship, and Lamichhane had received an invitation from China during the previous parliamentary session. However, this time around, there are indications that more in-depth discussions will take place.
A high-ranking government official stated that the primary agenda of the visit is to further strengthen and deepen Nepal-China relations. The visit is expected to last for five days.
The names of the other members of the delegation have not been disclosed, and it is confirmed that no government representatives will be part of the team. RSP sources have revealed that Lamichhane’s visit to China will be similar in nature to his recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.
