Nepali Film ‘Gounthali’ Performs Well at Domestic Box Office

Nepali film ‘Gounthali’ is performing well at the domestic box office, with the producer estimating a total collection of 3.1 million rupees by Wednesday.

Although the official box office figures are yet to be released, producer Suman Giri expects the film’s total collection to reach around 3.5 million rupees in its first week.

‘The business has encouraged us,’ Giri said, ‘The response has made us happy.’

According to Giri, the film is performing exceptionally well in the Kathmandu Valley, central Nepal, and western Nepal. However, the film’s performance in the eastern region has been below expectations.

‘The film is doing well from Kathmandu to western Nepal, but it’s a bit slow in the east,’ Giri said.

Giri added that the occupancy rate in western Nepal is around 70% on Thursdays, while in the east it’s around 50%.

Promotion and Release

Actors Arun Khetri and Simran Khadka are currently promoting the film in rural areas. They have watched the film with audiences in Pokhara, Butwal, Dang, Bhairahawa, and Chitwan.

From next Monday, the film’s promotion will shift to eastern Nepal. The film will also be released in 25 states in the US starting from Friday.

‘Gounthali’, directed by Kapil Rijal, conveys the message that education is more important for women than marriage.
