Nepali Congress Leader Warns of Defiance

Nepali Congress founding leader, Veer Bahadur Balayar, has warned that his faction is still open to party unity, but will not be ignored. Speaking at the 44th memorial ceremony of BP Koirala on Wednesday, Balayar expressed his objection to the party leadership’s approach to unity, accusing them of not making any agreements to move forward.

He claimed that his faction has not crossed the ‘lakshman rekha’ (a point of no return) and is still willing to work towards unity. ‘If you ignore us, I challenge you, we are still within the lakshman rekha. We have not crossed it, this is just a glimpse,’ he said. ‘If you try to force us, time is not far. The auspicious moment has begun. Today, remembering BP, we have taken out our ‘paila’ (a traditional Nepali vessel). These paila will not be stopped.’

Balayar emphasized the need for the Nepali Congress to demonstrate its capability and revolutionary character to improve the country’s national situation. ‘We are not just saying it, we will show it by doing it. We have done it before, we will do it again,’ he said.
