Nepal Sees 3,435 Disasters in Four Months, 166 Deaths

Nepal has witnessed a surge in disasters over the past four months, resulting in significant loss of life and property. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, a total of 3,435 disasters have occurred since Baisakh, claiming the lives of 166 people.

During this period, 988 people have been injured, and 4,531 households have been affected. The authority reports that the majority of these disasters were fire-related incidents, with 914 cases recorded.

Other disasters that have struck the country include 535 snakebite cases, 229 lightning strikes, 55 drowning incidents, 190 animal attacks, 478 windstorms, 495 landslides, and 171 floods. Additionally, there have been 166 heavy rainfall events, one boat capsizing, 191 landslides, two snowfall-related incidents, four hailstorms, and four other disasters.

In a recent 24-hour period, from the morning of Shrawan 2 to the morning of Shrawan 3, the country experienced 58 disasters, resulting in three deaths and 13 injuries. A total of 45 districts have been affected.
