Nepal’s Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has stated that the government is positive about increasing the salaries and allowances of Members of Parliament’s (MPs) personal secretaries.

Speaking at a meeting of the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives on Friday, Minister Wagle said the government is open to revising the salaries and benefits of MPs’ secretaries.

Regarding the allowances provided for field visits, the minister said the government is willing to make necessary adjustments to make them more relevant and timely.

‘We are not negative about revising the allowances for field visits and making them more relevant,’ he said, ‘We are open to making adjustments to the salaries and benefits of MPs’ secretaries.’

Minister Wagle also stated that the government is willing to have a healthy and lawful discussion on the proposed amendments to the Nepal Rastra Bank Act.

He added that the government is open to discussing the number of members to be included in the Rastra Bank’s board of directors.
