The Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection has fined two firms for non-compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.

Kisu Chamenagriha has been fined Rs 20,000 for not issuing a purchase bill, as per Section 15 of the Act. The department stated that the fine was imposed under Section 38 (g) of the same Act.

Similarly, Calm Era Attar, located in Jadibuti, Kathmandu, has been fined Rs 5,000.

Out of the 12 firms inspected by the department, 10 have been given corrective instructions. The department clarified that it has been conducting regular inspections of industries and firms to ensure compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075, and the Consumer Protection Regulations, 2076.

The department has been conducting regular inspections to maintain cleanliness in the market, prevent the sale of adulterated goods, and ensure the issuance of bills and receipts.
