Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Shakti Basnet has expressed dissatisfaction over the party’s decision to join the provincial government in Karnali Province, questioning the haste in making the decision.

"Why was there such a hurry to join the provincial government?" Basnet wrote on social media.

This comes as the NCP is preparing to form a new government in Karnali Province with the support of the Nepali Congress.

Internal Divisions Within NCP

Basnet’s public expression of dissatisfaction has highlighted the internal divisions within the NCP over the decision to join the provincial government.

Another NCP leader, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, is actively working to form a new government with the support of the Nepali Congress.

Shahi arrived in Surkhet on Friday to hold necessary political consultations for the formation of the new government.

The NCP in Karnali Province is currently divided between the Shahi and Basnet factions.

In this context, Basnet’s public questioning of the decision to join the government and Shahi’s efforts to form a new government have further highlighted the internal divisions within the party.
